Volta Will Remain NDC’s ‘World Bank’

In spite of the giant strides being made in the Volta Region by the Kufuor administration in terms of infrastructural development, a pressure group, the Concerned Electorate of the NDC, in the region, maintains that the status of the region as the party’s ‘World Bank’ remains unchanged.

The group in a press statement signed by its chairman, Wisdom Dafeamekpor Jnr. and secretary, Francis Agbele, congratulated the NDC council of elders, National Executive members as well as the regional delegates to their last special delegates congress “for giving out a message that is loud and clear.”

The statement re-assured the party and its flagbearer, Prof. John Atta Mills, saying ‘nothing can take away our unflinching support come 2004 general elections for the world to know that Volta Region is still the ‘World Bank” and not a rural bank for the NDC.”

The group also supports the appeal of the founder of the NDC ex-President Rawlings to party members on the need to bury their differences to enhance their forward march towards victory in 2004 general elections.

Furthermore, the statement congratulated both contestants, namely Prof. Atta Mills and Dr. Kwesi Botchwey, for their “high sense of maturity during and after the elections at which democracy emerged victorious.”

It would be re-called that before their last congress, a group calling itself the “Concerned Electorate” of the NDC based at Ho warned delegates from the Volta Region to remain in Accra should Prof. Mills be defeated in the elections.
