2,200 write BECE in Asante-Akim South

This year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) got to a smooth start in the Asante-Akim South District on Monday.

Distribution of materials to the nine examination centres were done on time and under tight security.

In all, 2,200 candidates made up of 1,300 boys and 900 girls had registered to sit for the BECE in the area.

Mrs. Regina Obeng Somuah, District Co-ordinator of Examinations told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that they did not anticipate any problem.

They had taken delivery of everything they needed for the successful conduct of the examinations.

She urged the candidates to resist any temptations to cheat, to avoid the cancellation of their papers.

At the Juaso Senior High School (SHS) Centre, the candidates were busily writing the English Paper One, when the GNA visited.

None of the registered students was absent.

At the Bompata SHS, where some candidates had just finished the first paper, they were in high spirits and expressed optimism of scoring good grades.
