GHOSPA demands secession from SSSS

The Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA) says it is fed up with negotiations to resolve members’ grievances over the migration onto the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS).

It says government has taken too long a time in resolving the grievances.

It is, therefore, calling to be weaned from the pay policy with immediate effect.

These were made known by Stephen Corquaye, the National Chairman of the Association, on the sidelines of the National Meeting and Scientific Symposium held in Accra last week.

Mr Corquaye disclosed to TV3 that the issue is currently between the Chief of Staff, Prosper Bani, who set up a committee to look into their demands and the Minister of Finance, Seth Terkper.

Mr Corquaye said members are frustrated by government’s action given the “ample time” to resolve their issues.

He said they are, therefore, asking for secession from the scheme, which is managed by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).

“We will not relent in the struggle. We will fight to the very end to earn our just due. This is a notice to the FWSC,” Mr Corquaye warned.

GHOSPA is demanding payment of “appropriate” Conversion Difference under the pay policy. The demand has, however, been rejected by FWSC, and the case has had a tussle in the law courts.
