Residents of some areas in Sekondi-Takoradi who could not watch television coverage of the opening ceremony and the first match of the World Cup tournament on Thursday have expressed their displeasure.
They urged the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to suspend power rationing during the period of the tournament to enable the public to watch matches on television.
The residents expressed their displeasure during a survey conducted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
Mr. Kweku Essuon, a self-employed, said football is the passion of the nation, and the interest of the public should be taken into account when considering power rationing during world cup matches.
He said the tournament takes place every four years and the public should not be deprived of the privilege of watching the matches on television.
Miss Kate Bassah, a football fan, was very disappointed that she missed the first match of the tournament which was widely watched in areas that had electricity supply.
