Taxi driver convicted for defilement

A Wassa Akropong based taxi driver has been convicted for luring and sexually assaulting a fourteen year-old primary six pupil.

Kofi Abraham, 27, today pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement at the Tarkwa Circuit Court.

Police Chief Inspector Florence Tawiah told the court, headed by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo, that on April 14, this year, at about 6pm, the victim joined her parents at the Jehovah witness worship center at Wassa Dadieso in the Western Region for evening church service.

According to the prosecutor, at around 7.30pm, Abraham trailed the victim to the church premises with his taxi cab and managed to lure her to Wassa Saa, a nearby community.

On reaching Wassa Saa, the defendant took the victim to his room and defiled her and kept her till the next day.

She said when the victim got home, her father Samuel Ahwireng Addo confronted her demanding to know where she went.

The victim then narrated her harrowing ordeal and her father reported the issue to the police at Wassa Akropong and Abraham was arrested.
