Route march, wreath laying to mark June 4 uprising

A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Revolution Square Accra on Wednesday to mark the 35th anniversary of the June 4 1979 uprising.

According to details released by the anniversary planning committee the occasion will be graced by the presence of Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, former President and leader of the uprising and the December 1981 Revolution.

The wreath-laying ceremony in honour of the fallen heroes will be preceded by aroute march from Kawukudi Junction to the Revolution Square. The route march, which will commence at 6am, will culminate in a parade at 7.30am at the Revolution Square.

Cadres, June 4 sympathisers, members of the public and the media are invited to participate in the ceremony.

Cadres in the various regions are expected to organise regional commemorative events.
