E/R Police arrest 18 armed robbers in five months

With public co-operation, the Police in the Eastern Region have arrested 18 suspected armed robbers this year. The Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). J.A. Abass-Abaah, disclosed this at a press briefing at Koforidua.

He said most criminals in the region skipped from one hotel to another, to avoid traces, and urged hoteliers to check important information such as the full names, nationality and passport numbers of their guests.

The Deputy Regional Police commander also urged the hoteliers to check the permanent addresses, dates of birth and the professions of their entire guests before granting them accommodation as required by law so that they could be traced if they happened to be criminals.

He called on hoteliers to alert the Police whenever suspicious looking guests come to their hotels. He appealed to the public to help the police to minimize crime rate in the region, and entreated the Media to educate the public on how best they can contribute to help reduce crime rate in the region.
