Mothers pray for abducted Nigerian girls

Mothers and young women of the Jubilee Christian Centre in Ho, on Sunday, prayed for the release of girls abducted by Islamic Boko Haram sect in Nigeria.

The special prayer session, which had support from men, was to mark this year’s Mothers’ Day celebration in the Church.

The mothers, under the leadership of Mrs. Pearl Hlormatsi, a Women’s Leader in the Church, held their breasts and prayed for God’s intervention for the girls to be freed without any harm.

Mrs. Hlormatsi described the abduction of the girls as “unfortunate” and appealed to mothers in Ghana to continuously intercede for the girls.

“I know how the mothers of these girls are feeling and we, mothers here in Ghana, must support and continuously pray for the release of the girls,” she said.

Mrs. Hlormatsi urged the mothers of the girls to be calm and trust in God.

The women also prayed for peace to prevail in Ghana and for the country’s economic emancipation.

Reverend James Noble Tulasi, Head pastor of the Church, in a sermon, urged mothers to develop interest in the development and activities of the youth and regularly advise them to live responsibly.

“Our mothers play important roles in maintaining peace in the country, but they must go the extra mile and mentor the youth to transform society.”

He asked queen-mothers and women leaders to advise the youth to stay away from cyber crimes and other social vices.

“Our queen mothers are closer to the youth and they must use this opportunity to prepare them properly for the future,” Rev. Tulasi stated.

The congregation later danced and sang in celebration of mothers.
