Nsawam Police arrest two armed robbers

Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the Nsawam Police for snatching a taxi with the registration number ER 5602 – 13 at Kwasitenten near Nsawam.

They are Ebenezer Alawogbe, alias “Don Sexy” 25, and Kwame Enoch, 24, both from Akatsi in the Volta Region.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Nsawam in the Eastern Region, ASP Stephen Billey Adom said that the two suspects hired the cabbie from Nsawam railway-crossing to Kwasitenten, but on their way Alawogbe asked the driver, Mr. Gudu Emmanuel, to stop for him (Alawogbe) to attend to nature’s call.

ASP Adom said Alawogbe and Enoch used a gun and knives to overpower the taxi driver and took the vehicle to Nungua in Accra.

They sold it to one Quarshie Simon at Ghc2,000 but collected an advance payment of Ghc800 to the suspects.

The Airport Police arrested Simon with the car and when the suspects returned to collect the balance of the money, they were apprehended.

The taxi driver who sustained gun and cutlass wounds during his struggle with the suspects has been discharged from the Nsawam Government Hospital.
