Marijuana, substance abuse on the rise in Tema

Creg Afful Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Tema, has expressed deep concern about the high level of marijuana and substance abuse by the youth in Tema.

Mr. Michael Creg Afful, Executive Director of the Foundation, told journalists that young people were increasing the consumption of marijuana and cocaine to the detriment of their mental and physical health.

He also called on all stakeholders including churches and NGOs to initiate bold steps to fight the menace.

Mr. Lawrence Agyekum, Assembly member for the Community 10/6 electoral area, said his colleague assembly members had shown interest and willingness to lead a crusade to rally support against this canker that is affecting the entire area.

He called on all churches within the metropolis to extend evangelism to the ghettos and hideouts of these young men to help influence their dangerous lifestyle.
