GRA boss must be sacked – Financial Analyst

A financial analyst, Kudzo Akpabey, wants the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority removed from office.

He said George Blankson is inefficient in steering the affairs of the GRA to mobilize more taxes.

President Mahama made some changes to the leadership of the Customs division of the GRA on Wednesday, April 23, 2014.

President Mahama appointed the Assistant Commissioner of the Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) Mr. Wallace Kofi Akondor, as Acting Commissioner effective May 5, 2014. He replaced Mr. Isaac Ofoe Apronti who has been commissioner for some time now.

A letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Prosper Bani, copied to the Finance Minister, Seth Terkper also named Frederick Gavor, as Acting Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations of CEPS. Mr. John Vianney Kuudamnuru will now be Head of Imports and Exports at the headquarters of the service.

Osman Awudu heads to Tema from Kumasi as Sector Head.

Mr. Awudu will be replaced by Mr. Kofi Toffah, as new Sector Head in Kumasi. Mr. Melvin Mc-Bruce is now new Head for Takoradi Sector in the Western Region.

But Mr. Akpabey is disappointed that the Commissioner General was left at post. He told Strictproof on Wednesday that he expects more changes, and Mr. Blankson should be the next to go.
