Two persons convicted of theft have been sentenced to a total of 18 years by a Kumasi Circuit Court presided over by Mr. William Boampong.
Abubakar Sallam, 21, trader; Kofi Amponsah, 20, a cobbler, would each serve nine years.
Their punishment came after they confessed to the charge of stealing.
They had cut open the window mesh of the room of Ebenezer Mensah, a student of the Christian Service University College, pushed a stick smeared with adhesive (glue) through it to pick his Toshiba laptop computer and mobile phones, all costing about GHc2,000.00.
Police Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang said this happened at the “TUC” in Kumasi on April 9, at about 2100 hours.
He said Mensah, who was asleep at the time, woke up the next day to detect the theft and decided to conduct his own investigations, which led to the arrest of the convicts.
The prosecution said the stolen items have been retrieved.
