Man leaves supper on table, kills himself after shooting brother

A 60-year-old hunter has shot himself after shooting his younger brother in a scuffle, throwing the Bamang Township near Bonwire in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality into mourning.

Kwaku Nimako, alias Alhaji shot and killed himself after shooting Kwabena Joe, whom he thought had died from the shooting.

Kwabena survived the shooting but is in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

A few meters way from Nimako’s body was the bowl of ‘fufu’ which he had been served for his supper.

Family members say Nimako who had threatened to kill his brother about a week ago carried out his threat when the two were about to eat fufu served them by a relative.

A niece, Adwoa Odei, told Nhyira FM the family was shocked by incident.

Watching them [uncles] few meters away, I saw them picking a quarrel and before I could get there to separate them, the eldest shot his younger brother, she said in Twi.

The shooting happened barely four hours after the Ashanti Regional Police Command declared war on illegal possession of arms in the region.
