Ayariga for court over missing GH¢1.3m campaign cash

An Accra Fast Track High Court today begins proceedings into the missing GH¢1.3 million campaign money belonging to the People’s National Convention (PNC).

The 2012 flagbearer of the party, Hassan Ayariga, is alleged to have misappropriated the fund — an allegation levelled against him by the party’s national treasurer, a one-time MP for Bolgatanga, David Apasera, following which he marched to court seeking retrieval of the money.

The issue made the headlines in the media when the former flagbearer was confronted with the allegation.

Hassan Ayariga rebutted the charge, saying that the money in question did not belong to the party.

The duo – Hassan Ayariga and David Apasera – have not been on good terms since the allegation was levelled against the former by the latter.

One of their recent encounters ended up at the Nima Police Station when the former flagbearer was alleged to have sent threatening text messages to Mr. Apasera, who marched to the police station in reaction.

The former flagbearer was invited and procedurally made to write a statement.
