Kumasi Police intercept Tamale-bound arms

The Tafo Pankrono Divisional police command has arrested one Ali Haruna, 32, upon intelligence that he was smuggling a cache of ammunition to the Northern regional capital, Tamale to fuel the conflict there.

Acting Divisional police commander Frank Ablakwah said the suspect was arrested with boxes containing arms and ammunitions which he had bought from a dealer’s shop at K.O near Osons Chemist.

Upon receiving the intelligence, the Police moved to the new Tafo-Bolga bus station and arrested the suspect on board a Benin-bound bus with registration no GR 3716 L.

A search on him led to the retrieval of eight boxes of BB and six of AAA carriages covered with green blanket.

The exhibits, together with the suspect, were sent to the Police station. Haruna, who admitted ownership of the ammunition, wrote his caution statement. The police will soon arraign him before court for prosecution.
