Parents want saturday classes to be stopped

Some Parents who called-in during Yen Daakye Programme on Jem 105.7 Fm last Saturday morning wanted the Saturday weekend classes that some teachers in the Ashanti Region have introduced in the region to be stopped because it was not helping students.

The host, Boakye-Baafi and his team were looking at the importance of Saturday Class on the development of the child.

Out of twenty people who called to contribute to the programme which looks into educational, children and youth related issues ,sixteen of them said that such classes should be seen as waste of school children’s time.

They were of the view that teachers have five days to teach their students everything they wish to teach.

Some of them even pointed out that in some schools class one pupils were also asked to attend Saturday classes which should not be the case. Some parents were not happy about the way children were becoming lazy at home because of Saturday classes.
