The General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah has asked the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) and the Clergy to launch an investigation into the missing baby saga at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Ashanti Region.
The family of Suwaiba Abdul Mumin has been at war with authorities at KATH over their lost child after the mother of the baby was told by the hospital authorities that her baby had died after delivery.
However, the body of the baby has, under mysterious circumstances, been missing from the hospital.
The situation, which seemed to have riled the family members, saw some sympathizers of the family troop to the hospital and assault workers last Wednesday, for apparently stealing the baby.
Speaking on Radio Gold’s “Alhaji and Alhaji” programme, Bernard Mornah admonished the GMA not to treat the situation with kid gloves but ensure that the hospital authorities get to the bottom of the matter. To him, the medical doctors at KATH should rather have gone on a strike action in protest against the misconduct of the hospital authorities and not because of the action by family of the missing baby.
Bernard Mornah also called on the Clergy and advocacy groups to rise up and demand for the body of the baby.
He wondered why the groups, particularly the Clergy consisting of very prominent religious leaders, have remained silent on the issue.
