NPP must do more to erase Akan tag – Amoako Tuffuor

A founder-member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Amoako Tuffuor, has blamed his party’s communication team for failing to properly handle issues relating to the Party’s akan tag.

According to him, what the communicators of the party must be doing is to ignore debating the subject since it is just a propagandist tool by NPP opponents.

Another founder-member, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe recently said the party’s vetting committee was Akan-biased.

The Party’s communication directorate has rejected that claim describing it as flawed.

Dr. Amoako Tuffuor told the XYZ Breakfast Show Wednesday that the party’s communicators mustn’t disrespect Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe just because he expressed a different opinion on a matter that is critical to the party.

“I know that people may be critical one way or the other about issues but it may not have the right basis for it.

“If Perry Okudzeto is inviting Nyaho Tamakloe it should be a peaceful kind of thing…He should not be treated like an enemy or someone with a plaque or something…let treat them with respect” Dr Amoako Tuffuor said.

Meanwhile, Pollster Ben Ephson says words alone cannot clear the perception that the NPP is dominated by Akans.

He stated that a lot more must be done to convince people that the NPP is open to all ethnic groups.
