Private Schools Should Not Think Of Profit Motive Only – Oppong

Offinso (Ashanti Region), 13 Sept.,

The management of private schools have been urged not only to take interest in their profit margins but they should also promote quality education and upright moral standards for their students. Mr. J. Y. Oppong, chairman of the Offinso District branch of Ghana Private Schools’ Association (GPSA), made the call at the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) meeting of Wiafe Akenten International School (WAIS) at Offinso yesterday. Mr. Oppong, proprietor of the school, noted that moral and academic achievements should be the pre-occupation of any private school to satisfy the aspirations of both parents and students. He advised teachers in both public and private schools to maintain high moral principles and desist from undesirable acts to tarnish the image of the teaching profession. The headmaster of the school, Mr. Donaltus Welpuo, urged the staff to be role models for the students and the public.
