MCE commissions schools in Ga West

Mr. Samuel Quaye, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga West Municipality on Friday commissioned some schools and inspected ongoing drainage and road projects being undertaken by the Assembly.

Mr. Quaye said the bold decision taken by the assembly was to ensure that they meet the campaign message of President John Mahama, who stood on the ticket of National Democratic Congress and promised to make education accessible to all children in the country.

The projects commissioned included two (2) storey six (6) unit classroom blocks, with ancillary facilities at the Nii Otoo Kwame III M/A Primary School at Pokuase, six (6) unit classroom block with facilities at Amamoley and a six unit classroom block with an office and a store at Amasaman.

Mr. Quaye said the facilities would ensure that more children in the area get access to education and a better future through the acquisition of skills.

He promised to furnish the newly constructed schools and existing ones with mono desks to aid teaching and learning.

Speaking with the Ghana News Agency, Madam Rebecca Owuedzi, Headmistress, Nii Otoo Kwame III M/A Primary School, said her outfit would raise funds to properly maintain the structure.

She said the facility will help reduce the truancy rate among the school children and would be a source of encouragement for serious learning.

On the road project, the MCE inspected the upgrading of a 2.8 km Amasaman Stadium road and the 2.3 km Pokuase main road as well as the drainage under construction, at Fise Area.

Nii Tettey Okpe II, Amamoley Mantse and a government appointee at the Assembly, appealed to benevolent individuals and organisations to help build more schools and capacity building centers to promote education and skills acquisition.
