Twafohene Seeks To Ends Dispute Among Ejura Yam Sellers

Ejura (Ashant Region), 13 Sept., The Ejura-Sekyedumasi District Assembly has been called upon to help resolve the leadership impasse among women yam sellers at the Ejura market. Nana Yaw Sarfo, Ejura Twafohene who made the call at Ejura, said some sections of the market women are being marginalised by the executive of the yam sellers’ association. He said some settler women in the market have monopolised the yam trade at the expense of the indigenous women who have vowed to ensure their representation on the executive body. He said the crisis, even though seems minimal, can escalate if appropriate measures are not taken to address it. Nana Sarfo said all efforts by the traditional council to resolve the impasse have proved futile. Meanwhile the Twafohene has appealed to the parties concerned to exercise restraint while the assembly and the traditional authorities find a solution to the problem.
