Farmer jailed for defilement

The Nkawie Circuit Court presided over by Mr. William Boampong has sentenced a farmer standing trial over defilement to 15 years imprisonment.

Kwaku Addai, 18, had gagged his 10-year-old victim and sexually abused her at Manukrom near Adiembra in the Atwima-Mponua District.

He had pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Police Chief Inspector Lawrence Ekow Hansen said this happened on August 13 last year.

The little girl was sleeping in an unlocked room when the convict slipped in, covered the mouth to stop her from raising the alarm and defiled her.

She informed the parents about the painful and traumatic ordeal she had been taken through, and a formal report was made to the police.

The prosecution said doctors who treated her in a signed report confirmed that she had been defiled.
