Hunter Killed In Expedition

Amomaso (Brong Ahafo), 10 Sept.,

A 30-year-old hunter, Opanyin Kwame Oppong, was shot dead at the weekend at Amomaso in the Dormaa district during a group hunting expedition in a forest reserve. His decomposing body was found by a search party yesterday, three days after he got missing during the expedition. A fellow hunter, Kwabena Tawiah who took part in the exercise and is under suspicion, has been placed in police custody. The police told the GNA at Amomaso today that Oppong was in the company of others who went to the Amomaso forest reserve last weekend to hunt for game. When the hunters regrouped at the village to account for their catch, they realised Oppong did not return with them. “A search party was immediately organised but he was not discovered till three days later.” The police explained that Tawiah was arrested among the lot because he is believed to have operated near the area where Oppong’s body was found.
