Doctors threaten nationwide strike by March 3

The Ghana Medical Association has threatened a nationwide strike by March 3, 2014.

It has accused the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) of conniving and colluding with the National Labour Commission to rob Doctors of their due.

The Doctors complained in a letter copied to the President and all other necessary stakeholders that they will carry out their threat if the NLC fails to enforce its own ruling concerning their earlier grievances.

The ruling was in connection with the conversion difference due Doctors following their migration onto the single spine salary structure.

FWSC, per the ruling, was to restore and pay the Doctors’ the conversion difference but that has still not happened since they called off their protracted strike in May.

The Doctors, in April last year went on a month-long strike to press home demands for the payment of their conversion difference resulting from the implementation of the SSSS. They restored their services on May 8 in compliance with the NLC directive.
