NPP Youth Organiser likens Mahama to a pregnant woman

Many have described the demolition exercise carried out last Tuesday by the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) as an act of cruelty which has rendered many Ghanaians refugees in their own land.

Though some have lashed out at the TDC for carrying out the exercise since some of the victims say they legally acquired the land and have documents to support their claim, others are accusing the various state institutions of shirking their responsibilities.

An aspiring National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Emmanuel Atefuah Danso, wants President John Dramani Mahama to be held responsible for failing to ensure that state institutions honour their obligations.

Speaking on Okay FM, Emmanuel Atefuah Danso described the demolition exercise at Adjei Kojo, a community near Ashaiman in the Tema West constituency, as an unwise adventure, slamming the TDC for allowing the occupants to stay on their lands for so many years without preventing them from putting up those alleged unauthorized structures in an area earmarked for future development.

“…it smacks of absurdity to destroy homes of hundreds of Ghanaians and replace their homes with tents for them to spend the night,” he said.

Liking the president to a heavily pregnant woman, he accused him (Mahama) of failing to sanction and discipline those at the helm of affairs at both the Town and Country Planning and Land/Evaluation Department, and allowing quasi bodies to operate unhindered.

“…President Mahama is like a pregnant woman who is always sleeping…you have to push him harder before he can react. This type of leadership is bad for Ghana. This sorrowful and painful situation some Ghanaians are going through could have been resolved if President Mahama was bold enough to ensure that institutions in the country work properly,” he opined.
