Kwakwaduam Association Inc. Of New York – Celebrates End of Year Dinner Dance

The Kwakwaduam Association of New York celebrated its 2013 End of year Fund Raising Dinner at the Eastchester Manor in the Bronx, New York. The theme of the celebration was “Helping Blind Children See” Proceeds from the Fund Raising launched by Dr. Kwame Aniapam Boafo was to advance the cause of Blindness in Ghana and for the School for the Blind in Akropong in particular.
The Chairman of the function, Dr. Samuel Mensah, a Neonatologist, said he was extremely impressed about the work Kwakwaduam was doing and pledged his continued support of the Organization. He said he shared in the vision of the Organization that the best part of every person’s life is what he or she gave back to society.

The President of the Organization, Mr. Mark Saforo in his remarks thanked the Guests for participating and contributing to the progress of the Organization. He gave the history of the organization and all the things the Kwakwaduam has accomplished in the past including the Water project in Akropong township and the School for the blind, logistic and sonogram supply for the Health Clinic in Mamfe and Okrakwadwo Midwifery Clinics, the Talking Calculator project for the school for the Blind to list a few. He indicated that Kwakwaduam has secured ten brand new laptops with computer tables and chairs to be donated to the Ghana Presbyterian University in Akropong in response to last year’s fund raising. He said the way forward will include the establishment of a Learning Center for Remedial Classes in Akwapim to help the kids better enter Universities. Locally the Organization will help strengthen Family Structures and Education to help members assimilate into the American Dream. He said the partnership with the World Vision has been extremely pivotal to the progress of the Organization. He thanked his Executive Members, Joyce Reid, Mindy Asiedu, Nicole Atram, Lydia Apronti, Paul Ansah, Emilia Okoampah, Kwabena Asante and Chris Takyi for their enormous work.
Mr. Frederick Ansong President of the Kwahuman Association in his remarks said he adored Kwakwaduam for its progressive thinking and that it is an organization worthy of emulation. Other Dignitaries present included Drs Osei Tutu and Richard Ansong, Drs Peter Klatsky and Diana Wolfe of Albert Einstein Medical School, Nana Apau Kissiedu-Mponuahene of Akropong, Lawyer Essien , Nana Afwireng of Ablade, Dr. Tibor Becske a Neuro Radiologist at NYU Langone Medical Center and Nana Oten Bosomprah
“Humanitarian Awards” were given Dr. Samuel Abrokwa and Rev. Kwaku Nyanteh for their immense contribution to the Organization

Mr. Francis Boanoh of FAWEB Solutions was the Media Consultant and between DJ Katabo and the Dancing, it turned out to be an excellent fun filled night.
