The big fishes behind the rot at the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agengcy (GYEEDA) programme will be dealt with by President John Mahama, Information and Media Relations Minister, Mahama Ayariga, has assured Ghanaians.
Mr Ayariga, without mentioning names, said any big fish found to have engaged in corrupt activities with regard to the programme will be prosecuted.
Five contracts awarded some private companies were recently abrogated by the government due to the endemic rot in the implementation of the various modules under the programme.
The firms include subsidiaries of AGAMS and Jospong groups of companies owned by Roland Agambire and Joseph Agyepong respectively.
Some of the companies have been ordered to refund about Ghc55 million to the state coffers.
The contracts were apparently awarded fraudulently and mired with corruption.
Mr Ayariga admitted on Saturday that the Mahama administration was not proud of the turn of events in the GYEEDA programme.
He conceded to Joy FM that there were “criminal elements” involved in the whole implementation process of the programme.
