Ex-convict jailed for stealing

Stephen Cudjoe, a 22 year-old ex-convict, has been sentenced to five years imprisonment for stealing GH¢200 and three tins of sardine valued GH¢9.00.

He was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Edward Paddy, told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that at about 0330 hours on December 26, last year, Ms Elizabeth Aidoo, the complainant was asleep in her room at Dompim in the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality, when the convict managed to enter the room and stole the money and the provisions.

He said when Cudjoe was coming out of the room a witness saw him and with the help of neighbours, he was arrested and handed over to the police.

Chief Inspector Paddy said whilst the convict was being taken to the police station, he attacked the complainant’s husband and attempted to escape but he was overpowered.

The Prosecutor said the complainant’s husband was issued with medical form to attend hospital for treatment and after investigation the convict was charged with the offence.
