2014 Should be a year of solutions – Kofi Adams

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Spokesperson for former President Jerry John Rawlings, Kofi Adams, has asked institutions to help government in finding solutions to the country’s challenges instead of creating more.

This was after 83 SHSs suspended their re-opening date due to government’s inability to pay two terms’ feeding subsidies.

Eighty-three Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the three regions of northern Ghana: 44 in the Northern Region, 23 in the Upper East Region and 16 in the Upper West Region have suspended their re-opening dates with a partial admission for final year students because government failed to pay for the student’s feeding.

Kofi Adams, speaking to the issue, said the Ministry of Finance, Education Ministry as well as managers of the grant should not have waited for students to re-open before dealing with the issue; adding, ‘managers should be able to tell us what they have done in solving the issue’.

“Those in charge of this have some questioning to do now…this is not the first time but it baffles me what really causes the problem; we pay people as heads, directors of education and others to manage our education for us. They should be able to do the work and find alternative means to go round some of these delays in payment…2014 should be a year of solutions,” Kofi Adams said on Tuesday’s edition of ‘Kokrokoo’.
