NHIS subscribers not affected by new healthcare fees and charges

The attention of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has been drawn to media reports that the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and some other health service providers have from Monday, January 06, 2014, commenced charging more for medical services they render to the public.
The action by the health service providers follows the recent approval of the Fees and Charges (Amendment) Instrument 2013 by the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana.
The NHIA wishes to state that the new fees do not affect subscribers of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Therefore, NHIS card holders who visit Korle Bu and other NHIS accredited health service providers should expect quality care for conditions covered under the Scheme at no extra cost.
Subscribers who face any difficulty at any NHIS accredited healthcare facility should call the NHIS Call Centre on 0544 44 6447.
Thank you.
