Global Evangelical Church holds Prayer Festival

The Reverend Felix Mensah Agbo, Accra Presbytery Chairman of the Global Evangelical Church has bemoaned the increasing social vices such as teenage pregnancy, indiscipline, alcoholism and others among the youth in the country.

He noted that in spite of the proliferation of churches in the country, such vices had been on the ascendancy.

Rev. Agbo was speaking at the opening ceremony of this year’s Prayer Festival of the church at Oyibi, near Dodowa in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region on Thursday.

The festival under the theme, “Knowing God, the Holy Spirit,” was aimed at strengthening the spiritual and physical well-being of members, moulding the character of the youth and also pray for peace and stability of the nation.

About 3,000 members drawn from various branches of the church in the Greater Accra Region were attending the festival.

Rev. Agbo attributed the cause of immorality to factors such as broken homes, illiteracy and proliferation of video centres in the country among others, and urged churches to intensify their evangelism to curb such practices.

He also advised them to abide by the principles of God to enable them to achieve their aims.

Rev. Agbo charged Christians to forge ahead in unity and contribute meaningfully towards the development of the country.

The Chairman of the Presbytery advised the youth to respect authority, be law-abiding and forgive one another at all times.

He also entreated leaders of the country to let the Holy Spirit guide them at all times in order to discharge their duties diligently.
