Eastern Regional minister slams NPP

The Eastern Regional Minister, Helen Adjoa Ntoso, has emphatically stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will lose the 2016 general elections in the Eastern Region which has been considered as their stronghold.

Ms Ntoso reiterated this based on what she described as massive developmental projects to hit the region from 2014 and beyond.

She explained that many projects, including a proposed University of Environment and Natural Resources would be established in 2014, adding that GETFund had awarded many school projects to contracts in the region. She also admitted that over 140 feeder roads had been tendered while 40 highways in the region would soon be awarded to contracts.

The regional minister added that the 160-seater bed ultra-modern regional hospital for the Eastern Region would take off in 2014.

The minister noted that these projects and other policies of government would raise the living standards of people in the region which would translate to massive votes for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 elections.

Hon. Ntoso made these known during a swearing-in ceremony for three District Chief Executives at the Regional Coordinating Council by stating that, early next year, all MMDCE’s in the region would be summoned to account for their stewardship in accordance with their action plans.

The minister, also known as ‘Action Lady’, cautioned that any MMDCE who failed to provide an action plan would be punished.

The three DCE’s sworn into office were Abass Fuseini Sbaabe of Fanteakwa District, William Emil Afram and Joseph Omari Sasu, DCEs for Kwahu Affram Plains North and South respectively.

Mr. Omari, on behalf of the DCEs, assured the regional minister and the President of their commitment in ensuring the fulfilment of the better Ghana Agenda in their administrative areas.
