Taido Assemblyman mobilises constituents

The new Assemblyman of the Taido Electoral Area, Mr Samuel Baffoe, has organised a durbar of chiefs and people of the area to foster unity and love among the them to accelerate the pace of development in the area.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Baffoe said the ceremony was also meant to highlight the development problems in the area for government?s attention and solution.

He appealed to the government to rehabilitate the Anomabo-Abura Dunkwa Road, which has become unmotorable, to enhance accessibility and carting of farm produce in the area to urban centres.

The assemblyman also appealed for the provision of a community clinic and vocational training centre to cater for the health needs of the people of the area and the Junior Secondary School (JSS) pupils to acquire vocational skills after completion of school. Mr Baffoe further appealed to the contractor working on the extension of electricity to the area to speed up the work on the project.

Additionally, he appealed to the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr Kofi Wilson, to provide farmers in the area with loans from the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) and assist them to obtain agricultural inputs at affordable prices to enable them to expand their farms and increase yield to earn more capital.

Mr Baffoe called for the operation of more non-government organisations (NGOs) in the area to speed up its development and raise the living standards of the people. The Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Jacob S. Arthur, advised the unit committee to co-operate, support and work in harmony with the assemblyman to enable him to achieve his set objectives.

Mr Arthur urged the people to intensify their communal and self-help spirit and initiate their own development projects and assured them of his support and assistance from his share of the MP?s Common Fund to enhance their completion.

He announced that Taido, Pomase, Mampong, Ndasemam and Devendwebadze have been approved for the supply of electricity under the Self-help Electrification Project ((SHEP) 4 with Tuafo and Brofoyein under consideration. The Secretary of the unit committee, Mr Charles Amissah, appealed to the chiefs to co-operate with the committee and the assemblyman to promote, peace, unity and development in the area.

The Regent of Taido and Chairman for the function, Nana Sam, assured the unit committee and the assemblyman of the unflinching support of the chiefs and people to enhance the discharge of their duties.
