Akufo-Addo has an ‘offensive body language’ – Tony Aidoo

“My perception is that Nana Akufo-Addo has a body language that does not appeal to people and I don’t know if he is conscious of that offensive body language of his,” said former Head of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Presidency, Dr. Tony Aidoo.

He believes the 2008 and 2012 flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is in serious need of “communication therapy”.

The Ambassador-designate was commenting on the recent internal wrangling within the NPP following certain utterances by Dr Konadu Apraku, campaign manager for Nana Akufo Addo in 2008.

Supporters of Nana Akufo-Addo pounced on Dr Apraku after he suggested that it will be disastrous for Nana Addo to contest for the presidency again especially since he has contested twice and lost on both occasions.

Dr Tony Aidoo said on Radio Gold’s “Alhaji and Alhaji” programme that to him, “the element of humility is not visible in his (Nana’s) body language and so it leaves people to the conclusion that he is arrogant and so full of himself” that if he is given the chance at the presidency, he might be more arrogant.

Nonetheless, “may be appearance may be deceptive and it is not all that glitters that is gold but so far as appearances are concerned, I think sometimes his (body language) is a put off and I think he (Nana) is in dying need of communication therapy”.

Dr Tony Aidoo added that “if the NPP are saying Dr Apraku is entitled to his own opinion, then why are they attacking him? I think they are doing so because they believe that any statement that does not reinforce the impression that Akufo-Addo is a saint, is a statement that undermines the chances of Akufo-Addo for 2016.”
