Education ministry sets up complaints unit

The Ministry of Education yesterday inaugurated a complaints secretariat to receive grievances and criticisms from the public for redress.

Situated at the ministry, the secretariat will solicit complaints and suggestions from the public to help improve on the education service in the country.

Similar offices are to be opened in the regions and the districts across the country.

Inaugurating the secretariat, the Deputy Minister in charge of Pre-tertiary Education, Mr Alex Kyeremeh, gave an assurance that the complaints received would be forwarded to the appropriate departments of the ministry for immediate action.

“The office will not overtake the duties of our agencies but work closely to achieve quality education service,” he said.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, Mr Paul Kofi Krampah, said teams would be sent to schools or units to investigate the complaints.

He said offenders would be sanctioned if they were found guilty of the act.
