Ga State Akwashong calls for unity

Nii Kpakpa Brofonyo, the Ga State Akwashong (War Leader / Field Marshall) has called on Gas especially the people of Asere in the Greater Accra region to come together to form a united front and think about development projects for the capital and future generations. Speaking to yours truly in an exclusive interview, he said Accra; the capital of Ghana should see more development than we are seeing now. Nii Kpapka Brofonyo who was enstooled on April 8, 1994 said misunderstandings among chiefs and elders have deprived Accra of many things and it is about time that people bury their differences and come together for the country to enjoy toal peace and unity. According to the Asare clan head, many people from different places have come to Accra with diverse intentions and those who come for diabolic reasons must be sent out, whilst those who have positive and good ideas must be embraced. “We the people of Accra love strangers, but it does not mean when they come to Accra, they must misbehave or take the law into their own hands. We have law and order in Ghana and Accra, so those who come here should obey our laws and behave as good people” he said. The sports lover advised young sportsmen and women in Accra to train hard as very soon there shall be scholaships for those who are identified. He expressed his sadness about the lack of basic sports facilities in the suburbs of Accra. He charged the community leaders to draw plans to construct sports complexes and sports halls for games like tennis, basketball, table tennis and boxing. He hinted that the people of Accra love boxing and it is about time a classic gym is built in Bukom or any of the surrounding areas like Kaneshie, Mamprobi or Dansoman. On education, he said the people of Accra must emulate their brothers and sisters in the other regions especially Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and the Central regions where many schools have been named after chiefs. “Education is the key that opens you to life, so please let us take education very serious” he advised.
