Akufo-Addo is hale and hearty – NPP denies “sick” rumour

A Ghanaian-German Politician, Anthony Rau, claims Nana Akufo-Addo has been warned by his Doctor to quit politics on health grounds.

The Hamburg-based international human rights activist claims the twice-defeated presidential candidate recently had a heart surgery in London, which prompted the warning from his Doctor.

According to Rau, one of Akufo-Addo’s wife’s confidants – a fellow female activist, whose name he refused to mention – informed him of the former Attorney General’s precarious health problems.

“…She told me that she had a conversation with the wife of Nana Akufo-Addo and she was crying bitterly that her husband nearly died and the husband has [had] a surgery of his heart and now the Doctor has warned Nana Akufo-Addo to quit politics other than that, he’ll die”, Rau claimed Akufo-Addo’s wife’s confidant told him.

Rau, who conceded to XYZ News that Nana Akufo-Addo stood the greatest chance of winning the presidency if he runs in 2016, however, warned that those in the NPP who are forcing him to go for a third time, are doing him a disservice, since they are aware of his medical condition.

“…They should tell the truth; he’s sick; he can’t [be a] candidate anymore and that’s it”, the 2011 mayoral candidate for Hamburg said.

However, NPP General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, told XYZ News “Nana Akufo-Addo is not ill, he’s well…the last time that I saw him, he was very well…I spoke with Nana Akufo-Addo three days ago and I did not speak to him on a hospital bed so I don’t know where these things are coming from”.

He did not confirm or deny if Nana Akufo-Addo indeed has undergone heart surgery recently as claimed by Anthony Rau.
