FDA defends failed attempt to lock up Tobinco warehouse

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) says it did nothing wrong by assisting EOCO to lock up a warehouse they suspect belongs to Tobinco Pharmaceuticals.

On Thursday evening, a team from the FDA and EOCO stormed the facility at Spintex road in Accra and attempted to lock it up.

The officials, however, clashed with angry staff of the company who prevented the officials from EOCO and FDA from locking up their office.

This is the latest twist to the tussle between the FDA and Tobinco over the alleged importation and sales of fake drugs.

Issaka Coffie, a Regulatory Officer for the FDA in an interview with XYZ News said that EOCO had information that the facility was selling fake Tobinco drugs to the public and so they decided to lock up the place to protect the public.
