Chief Justice opens probe into vikileaks tape

XYZ News has learnt that the Chief Justice (CJ) has constituted a Committee to probe the vikileaks saga.

The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) petitioned the Chief Justice in that regard following the exposure of a tape on which sacked Deputy Communications Minister, Victoria Hammah was heard saying Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, Nana Oye Lithur, may have influenced the final verdict on the election petition case.

Oye Lithur, who is wife of the President’s Lawyer, Tony Lithur, in the election petition hearing, has denied the allegation.

Besides petitioning the Chief Justice, the NPP also petitioned the leadership of Parliament to probe the matter.

The 8-months’ election petition hearing was determined in favour of the Respondents, including President John Mahama, on August 29, 2013 by the nine member panel of Justices Presided by William Atuguba.
