Homosexuals in sex business

A study by a Tema-based non-government organisation, Hearts and Fathers, indicates that sex trade among homosexuals and lesbians is becoming popular with some, according to the study, charging as much as ?200,000 for a three-minute session.

The practice is however not without its side effects. It was realised during the study that as a result of their homosexual activities, some of them experience anal discharge, thus compelling them to wear sanitary pads.

The report of the study was made available to The Mirror during a one-day working visit to the premises of the organisation by a two-member delegation from the World Bank. The delegation was led by Dr Alexander Abrantes, World Bank Sector Manager in Washington, is in the country to inspect the premises of a number of NGOs being funded by the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC).

According to the study, majority of the homosexuals in the Eastern Region saw the act as a trade and most of them get involved during vacations through “consignments” (prior arrangement) to various cities, especially Tema.

The study also found out that most lesbians are usually lured into the practice by elderly women who have had bad experience with men. These women brainwash the young girls into believing that all men are hopeless and they are better off with women in relationships because they are more caring.

Most of the lesbians interviewed said they are in the act because it is safer way to practice sex since they do not get pregnant. According to the study, most homosexuals and lesbians are students in second cycle institutions and the prisons. Students in special schools such as the school for the blind and deaf also practice such acts.
