Ghana Red Cross Society to revive its activities in the W/R

Mr Matthew Boateng, Western Regional Manager of the Ghana Red Cross Society, on Friday announced plans by the society to re-activate its activities in the Western Region.

He was speaking at a meeting of executives of Red Cross Clubs at schools at Sekondi.

Mr Boateng said the activities of the society in the region had declined mainly because of problem with funding and many school clubs of the society had become dormant.

He asked the executives of dormant school clubs to help revive them to enable the members to offer first aid in event of disasters and other emergencies.

Mr Boateng said the Red Cross inculcated the spirit of volunteerism in students adding that, people must love to serve without thought of reward.

He said the society needed funds to run its programmes and used the occasion to appeal to government to come to the aid of the society because it was established by an Act of Parliament in 1958.
