Harry Sawyerr was Education Minister under President Jerry John Rawlings and later in 2010 made a member of the ruling National Democratic Congress’s Council of Elders.
Harry Sawyerr was decorated by President John Atta Mills with the highest state honour.
Sawyer was a chartered surveyor with many years of successful practice and one of the most revered statesmen, both within the Ghanaian political class and the Ga State.
He once served the council of state.
