Bus Stop Litterbins A Nuisance – Residents

Initiatives for beautification and sanitation by some private companies, including the provision of bus stop litterbins along the streets of the capital is posing a nuisance and most in cases, a threat to the public, residents and commuters have said. This follows the inability of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to make permanent arrangements for the maintenance of such facilities, particularly, emptying of refuse containers. These private initiatives can be found along the Graphic Road, Roxy Cinema, and the Cocobod area, Adabraka, among other places. To aggravate the situation, some households have resorted to dumping their domestic solid waste into some of the refuse buckets along the streets.
