Ashaiman MCE nominee to deepen better Ghana agenda

Ashaiman is an active settlement with lot of energy, which must be harnessed through the Better Ghana development philosophy, to achieve prosperity and social justice, says Mr Ibrahim Baidoo, the President’s nominee as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

He described the municipality as “a promising environment with visible pointers to a bright future but we must first of all unite to see the road properly”.

Mr Baidoo, a businessman, told Ghana News Agency that “It is my desire to unite assembly members after my confirmation tomorrow. We will come together to develop Ashaiman because Ashaiman is bigger than our individual parochial interests.”

He said he would follow the Assembly’s blueprint to the letter in order for the people to realise the brilliant ideas and plans that the President and the National Democratic Congress have in store for them.

“The issue of poor roads and infrastructure and how to tackle them has been captured in the blueprint for the Assembly. We only have to follow it and watch out for emerging issues and also seek solutions to them.”

According to him, there are many entrepreneurs operating in Ashaiman who would need some lessons in entrepreneurship to improve their lot and as result employ some of the youth in the areas.

“The other area in which we are blessed is football. We have a lot of talents and I am calling on scouts to set their eyes and ears on Ashaiman. Not too long ago we helped some young people to join local and foreign teams. We need to create the environment for that to happen again. This has been done before and we will do it again,” he said.

On the long road through Ashaiman which is the subject of local discontent, he said the government would soon release resources to speed up its construction and called on the residents of the municipality to exercise restraint.
