39 year old man Kwadwo Owusu is in Police grips for cultivating a plantation suspected to be Indian hemp at Prusu near Jinjini in the Berekum municipality of Brong Ahafo region. The Commander of the Berekum district of the Ghana Police Service Deputy Superintendent Asare Bediako told Suncity Morning Drive programme that they were given a tip-off and subsequently layed ambush around the farm resulting in the arrest of the suspect. He said Owusu said the one-and-half acre farm, which is four months old would have been sold to one Mustapha of Berekum.

According to DSP Asare Bediako, the farm was inter-planted with pepper. He said, some samples of the weed (Indian hemp) have been uprooted to be tested and used as evidence in court. The suspect has since been remanded in prison custody and to re-appear in court on November 29.
