Alhaji Malik refutes report of not contesting NDC Chairmanship

Alhaji Malik Issahaku, the incumbent Upper West Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has refuted allegations by a section of the media that he was not going to contest the chairmanship position again.

“I, therefore, wish to state emphatically that never have I on any occasion mentioned to anyone that I was no more going to contest the seat of the chairman for the region again,” he stated.

Alhaji Malik who refuted the allegation in a statement issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Wa said he was, however, enthused that people were expressing interest in serving at diverse leadership positions within the party in the region.

He appealed however, to all prospective candidates to exercise a bit of restrain as the able leadership of the party was relentlessly working out the modalities for the impending election.

The incumbent Upper West NDC Regional Chairman cautioned that once the green light had not yet been given for the contest, all party faithful should eschew tendencies that could undermine the modalities.

While calling on all to respect laid down party structures, Alhaji Malik assured all interested candidates that when the green light is finally given; interested candidates would be given chance to contest under the principles of transparency and fairness.

Alhaji Malik noted that until then, all should work towards maintaining a united front in the party to give His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama the necessary atmosphere to fulfill the “Better Ghana” promises made to the people of Ghana.
