Kufuor’s office: Nunoo-Mensah must account for O’reilly charity

Former President John Kufuor’s office says the National Security Advisor must publicly declare the source of funding for his personal initiative which led to the construction of a classroom block for O’reilly Senior High School.

Nunoo-Mensah, who lashed out at striking public officers when he inaugurated the self-sponsored classroom block, wondered why organised labour continuously tries stampeding and railroading the government through strikes and other forms of industrial action.

He told the labour unions off, and asked them to “get their passports and get out of the country if the Kitchen is too hot for them”.

The retired Army Officer expressed utter disgust at the unions for being, in his view, averse to sacrifice and patriotism – traits that he personally extolled himself of.

He fumed that while he, a 77-year-old man, sweated under the sweltering heat of the scorching sun to personally mobilise funds to put up a classroom block for the students of Ghana, organised labour, which could do more to help the situation, rather always held Government to ransom with strikes and threats of same.

Discussing the matter on Radio XYZ’s news analysis programme ‘The Analyst’ on Saturday, Mr Kufuor’s Spokesperson, Frank Agyekum said: “…It is important that we know who he spoke to, who gave what and how much”.

Agyekum said it is important for Nunoo-Mensah to declare the source of all the funding he got for the school construction so as to rule out corruption.

“…Is it a matter of I scratch your back you scratch my back? And did they do it because they believed that if I did something on behalf of the national security advisor, then perhaps I could get something in future?”

He said it important a full declaration is made and documented for future referencing and accountability.
