‘Nunoo Mensah is expired goods, Mahama must fire him’

Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby says President John Mahama must fire the national security advisor.

Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah recently chastised organised labour for their repetitive strike threats and asked them to “get out of the country if the kitchen is too hot” for them.

In his no holds barred public outburst of organised labour, Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah wondered why public sector workers are not sacrificing for the interest of the country, but always threatening strikes.

However, Dr. Wereko-Brobby said on Monday that: “It is unconscionable and unacceptable for the national security Advisor to create a state of insecurity and tension by those comments and I really think he’s well passed his sell-by date and the President needs a new national security advisor.

He wondered: “Where is there sacrifice when 8.7 billion cedis of our money has been filtered down the drain?”

“Who should be sacrificing?” He fumed.

According to him, “these are matters that we must widen the discussion thereof. Our national budget is dead, our funds have been dissipated; there’s profligate waste of our money. Is Brigadier Nunoo Mensah sacrificing or also participating in this abuse of the public purse?”

“Cast ye first the speck from the eye before you start doing it for others,” Dr. Wereko-Brobby advised.

He also noted that the Mahama administration’s “fire fighting governance” style may not be serving the country’s interest.

The former Ghana@50 Secretariat CEO said on Joy FM that: “I think the first thing to do is to follow what the law says in this country and to start off by saying that is this country’s interest being well served by the type of governance; of fire fighting governance; of always waiting for the last minute until people are at the point of withdrawing their labour before government actually fulfils promises and agreements that it has signed onto”.
