‘Hold your tongue’ – Sir John tells Party members

As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares for the release of party guidelines ahead of internal elections beginning next month, its General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as “Sir John” has cautioned party members to guard their tongues.

“Our party is a party known for robust way of discussing its internal matters. We are of the view that not everybody is happy; especially those who vote for us are not happy about the way we appear to be tearing ourselves apart in terms of the way we discuss matters”, Sir John noted.

The guidelines governing the internal elections of the party are expected to be released today, Friday, October 18, as the NPP General Secretary warned members of the party to be circumspect in their language.

Concerns were being raised by some party members, especially, as those belonging to different camps at the grassroots have started throwing accusations against each other, a behaviour, analysts had indicated, could haunt them in the future.

Speaking to Joy News, Sir John admitted the practice could be detrimental to their fortunes as he noted that party members had learnt their lessons from such wrangling.

“Party rank and file had learnt lessons out of that. I am happy that for the past few weeks, we have not had such internal bickering”, Sir John noted.
