Transport Ministry/agencies on road safety walk

Staff of the Ministry of Transport and its agencies on Saturday embarked on a road safety walk to educate and sensitise drivers and the public on road safety issues in Accra.

Mr Twumasi-Ankra Selby, Chief Director at the Ministry of Transport said the road safety walk is held every quarter of the year and commended Staff of the Ministry and the agencies for making it a success.

He said road accidents are always on the ascendancy when Christmas is approaching, and assured that the Ministry and its agencies would intensify the road safety campaign to ensure accident free festive season.

Mr Ankrah urged drivers and the public to support the campaign by taking the education and sensitisation programme serious.

Mrs May-Obiri Yeboah, Executive Director of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) said the Commission had intensify the road safety campaign at the various lorry stations to educate drivers on the need to avoid driving without a license, over speeding and also ensuring that their vehicles are road worthy.

She said the public is also being educated on how to cross the road as well as other useful information to prevent any injury when using the road.

She said NRSC officials in the various regions would also join the campaign to ensure that there is accident free Christmas season across the country.
